Divine Fits: Artist You Should Know

The term “supergroup” tends to be overused these days but a band made up of  members from Spoon, Wolf Parade and New Bomb Turks can certainly be dubbed a supergroup for fans of indie music.  Essentially all that title means is that the members come from excellent bands so, together, they must be super!

Judging by this song, this theory holds true.

Would That Not Be Nice by divinefits

Spoon’s Britt Daniel has an unmistakable swagger in everything he does. Not only is his voice immediately recognizable, but also his confidence. I pretty much love everything he does.

The band is called Divine Fits and they played one of their first live shows last night in Austin, TX and just announced a show in Los Angeles for August 14 at the Bootleg Theatre that sold out immediately. (The day before the show you’ll be able to grab the song above as a free download as Today’s Top Tune!)

The album will be called “A Thing Called Divine Fits” and will be out on Merge Records on August 28.

Britt Daniel, Dan Boeckner & Sam Brown Are Divine Fits

Four days ago, Handsome Furs announced their breakup. But Dan Boeckner, the Wolf Parade co-leader who made up half of that duo, didn’t take too long to get a new project going. Boeckner is now one of the three members of a new L.A.-based indie supergroup called Divine Fits. The debonair Spoon frontman Britt Daniel is also a part of it, as is Sam Brown, drummer for the Ohio trash-punk greats New Bomb Turks. The new band plans to release a debut album later this year on Merge, and they’re working with producer Nick Launay. Right now, there’s no music; all they’ve got is a website and a Twitter. But let’s be honest: Daniel and Boeckner don’t write bad songs, ever. Given the past work of everybody involved, this thing is going to fucking rule.
